Course Overview:

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response, life support, management of casualty/s, the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance. This First aid course covers adult and child conditions. This is the advised minimum requirement by Workplace Health and Safety Legislation for the workplace first aider. This course was previously known as Senior First Aid.


Prerequisites:

Students must be over 16 years of age.

There are no pre-requisites or co-requisites for this unit of competency.

This unit incorporates the content of units HLTCPR201A Perform CPR and HLTFA201A Provide Basic Emergency Life Support

Duration:


7 hours face to face training with pre-course information.

All online learning activities MUST be completed prior to course commencement.

Assessment Criteria:


Throughout the course participants must demonstrate ongoing competency during a series of practical skills evaluation and written assessment.


Requirements for Completion:


100% attendance and participation


Award Issued:


On successful completion of the course, the participant will receive a Statement of Attainment, which is valid for 3 years. This course complies to policy advice by the Australian Resuscitation Council. As per the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines the HLTCPR201A Perform CPR unit is recomended to be completed every 12 months.

This course is nationally recognised through inclusion on the National Training Information Service (NTIS). It is WorkCover approved in every state.
