Course Overview:


This unit of competency provides training for all persons involved in electrical work the skills and knowledge required to rescue a person in contact with low voltage electrical conductors and equipment, and relevant first aid procedures.


Prerequisites:


Students must be over 16 years of age.

There are no pre-requisites or co-requisites for this unit of competency.

Assessment Criteria:


Throughout the course participants must demonstrate ongoing competency during a seriesof practical skills evaluation and written assessment.


Requirements for Completion:


100% attendance and participation


Award Issued:


On successful completion of the course, the participant will receive a Statement of Attainment, which is valid for 6 months. 


This course is nationally recognised through inclusion on the National Training Information Service (NTIS). It is WorkCover approved in every state.

  • Safe use of a fire blanket
  • Procedures and precautions to be undertaken when performing low voltage rescue
  • Removal of a victim from the source of injurys
  • Movement of an unconscious victim to a clear safe area
  • The one man drag method

HLTCPR201A Perform CPR

  • Apply Emergency Action Plan – Identify the DRSABCD Process
  • Perform CPR

Course Outcomes:


At the completion of this course each participant will be able to:

  • Quickly assess a hazardous electrical situation.
  • Take appropriate action to protect themselves and any victim of electrocution.
  • Rescue an electrocuted person without endangering themself or others.
  • Take appropriate action to prevent further damage to others.
  • Manage bleeding.
  • Manage burns.

HLTCPR201A Perform CPR

  • · Recognise and respond to an emergency situation.
  • · Communicate details of the incident.
  • · Respond to signs of an unconscious patient.
  • · Indication for CPR.
  • · Demonstrate the use of the DRSABCD emergency action plan.
  • · Perform effective CPR.
  • · Safe manual handling.
